Have just bought a new Dell Inspiron 5000 with NVIDIA GeForce 920M GPU. Laptop came with Windows 8 and free upgrade to Windows 10, so I upgraded first thing (on 11/09/15) to avoid familiarising with two new OS (old laptop was Windows 7). The GeForce experience platform tells me I need to update to Windows 10 driver (355.82), but when opening GeForce experience I get a 'failed to connect to NVIDIA' error.
NVIDIA Outs Windows 10-Compatible Drivers for. Of Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system, NVIDIA has rolled out. NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Driver.
Have tried available fixes (deleting NSManagedTasks.xml file, stopping NvNetworkService process, restarting in Services before launching GeForce), but still getting error. Tried to install the Windows 10 driver from NVIDIA website, but received the same error as many users, 'This NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware.'
Have tried installing in compatibility mode for Windows 8 and have troubleshooted compatibility mode using three different settings, but all still failed. When I tried to update the driver using Windows Update, it told me I was using the most up to date driver but NVIDIA says no. Hi, Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am sorry to know that you are facing issues with Windows 10.
